Capacity strengthening

Since its inception in 1998, staff of the Malaria Centre have played an important part in strengthening research capacity in malaria endemic countries, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The core of this training continues to be the LSHTM’s extensive taught course programme which encompasses residential MSc courses, short courses and a fast-growing distance-based learning programme. However, Malaria Centre staff have also been instrumental in the development of a number of specific programmes and projects which focus on capacity strengthening and play a key role in a number of new consortia which have capacity strengthening as a cross-cutting theme.
