For the past two years, the Faculty of Infectious and Tropical Diseases (ITD) has run a Small Grants Scheme to encourage Research Degree Students and Staff to run a stand alone Public Engagement activity of their choice.  This year's grant holders include Ailie Robinson who has written a blog about her use of the innovative Foldscope tool to engage and encourage pupils from 3 local schools to consider the use of the microscope in malaria diagnosis: you can read Ailie's blog Bug Bitten, the BioMed Central blog network here:
