Bill Gates meets members of the Malaria Centre

On Tuesday last week, Bill Gates met leading members of the Malaria Centre as well hearing about other cutting edge research being carried out across the School. Centre Director Professor Chris Drakeley gave an overview of our work and Professors David Baker and David Conway presented their research that has identified new drug targets, work on molecular epidemiology of parasites within human populations and transmission and diagnosis of malaria at low levels of infection.  Other Centre members pictured include Dr Tanya Marchant who also presented on behalf of the IDEAS project, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which aims to improve maternal and child health in Africa and India and Professor Sir Brian Greenwood.
