Seminar | Malaria: Transmission and molecular biology tools

IID Seminar

Malaria transmission is complex and assessment of host and parasite genetic markers is often necessary to understand parasite epidemiology. This is a summary of the molecular assays we use in our lab to find out more about Plasmodium falciparum clonal diversity and selective transmissibility, who gets bitten most in a household and human genetic factors such as haemoglobin S and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.
